Pivotal
piv·ot·al adjective 1. of crucial importance in relation to the development or success of something else
At Pivotal ABA, we believe in the power of transformative change. The word pivotal means a central or crucial point on which something depends—a moment of profound impact that shifts trajectories. This concept is at the heart of everything we do.
Our name reflects our commitment to identifying and addressing the pivotal skills and behaviors that open the door to meaningful growth and independence for individuals with developmental disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD). By focusing on these essential areas, we help create lasting changes that ripple across all aspects of life, benefiting not only the individual but also their families, schools, and communities.
At Pivotal ABA, we’re here to empower change—one skill, one moment, one step at a time. Join us on this journey to discover what’s possible.
What is ABA?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an evidence-based practice rooted in the science of learning and behavior. At Pivotal ABA, we embrace a person-centered approach to ABA therapy, recognizing that every individual’s neurological differences are a meaningful part of who they are.
ABA therapy is used to teach developmental skills, including language and communication, social play, academics, and imitation, while also addressing challenging behaviors by understanding their function and identifying compassionate, effective strategies. Our goal is not to change who a child is, but to build on their strengths, provide them with tools to navigate their world, and help them develop meaningful skills that support their independence and self-expression.
We utilize a range of approaches tailored to each child’s unique needs and preferences, including Discrete Trial Training (DTT), Natural Environment Teaching (NET), Verbal Behavior (VB), Behavioral Skills Training (BST), and more. At Pivotal ABA, we focus on collaboration and respect, working to create positive and lasting change that aligns with the goals of the individuals and families we support.
Is ABA right for me?
Determining whether Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the right fit for you or your loved one is a personal decision that depends on your unique goals, values, and needs. ABA is a flexible, evidence-based practice designed to support individuals in developing meaningful skills, fostering independence, and addressing challenges in ways that respect and build upon their strengths.
ABA might be a good fit if:
You’re seeking strategies to help develop skills such as communication, social interaction, or daily living tasks.
You want a collaborative approach where you, your family, and your care team work together to identify and achieve meaningful goals.
You value personalized care that considers the individual’s strengths, preferences, and needs.
You’re looking for evidence-based methods to understand and address challenging behaviors while maintaining dignity and respect.
Considerations:
At Pivotal ABA, we prioritize a compassionate, person-centered approach aligned with the principles of neurodiversity. This means we focus on empowering individuals, not “fixing” them, and emphasize skill-building that enhances independence and self-expression.
ABA is a commitment that requires time, consistency, and active participation from caregivers, but it can lead to profound and lasting growth.
If you’re unsure, we’re here to help. Our team can provide guidance, answer your questions, and discuss whether ABA aligns with your goals and values. Together, we can explore what’s possible.
